Privacy Policy

Hey love — before we get into the legal bits, here’s the deal:

Roxy takes your privacy seriously. Like “I’ll-body-block-any-creepy-tech-bro-who-tries-to-track-you” seriously.
This space was built for queer women and everyone under the WLW umbrella, which means your safety, anonymity, and comfort aren’t optional — they’re literally the foundation.

So here’s the clear, no-nonsense breakdown of what we collect, what we don’t, and how we protect you while you’re here.
Alright, deep breath. Let’s do this the safe way.
Roxy is built to be the safest WLW-first ecosystem possible. This notice explains how your data is handled inside the app and on related websites — with transparency, consent, and zero tolerance for surveillance.

0. Who we are and what this covers
This privacy notice is for Thinqer (“Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”), which operates:
the Roxy app and WLW ecosystem, and
the website https://thinqer.io and any site that links to this notice,
related services such as surveys, waitlists, events, email updates, and marketing.
We call all of this together the “Services”.
By using our Services, you agree to this Privacy Notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Services. If you have questions, email info@thinqer.io.

1. What Roxy collects (and what we don’t)
Roxy keeps data collection intentionally minimal.
We gather only what’s needed to run the platform, personalise your experience, and protect the WLW community — nothing more.

1.1 What we collect
These are the categories of information you may choose to share with us:
Account information
Such as your email address or whichever login method you select (Google, Apple, etc.).
Basic profile details
Only the information you voluntarily add — like your name, pronouns, bio, interests, or photos.
Settings & preferences
Things like who you want to match with, notification choices, app language, visibility preferences, etc.
App activity needed for functionality
This includes non-sensitive actions such as likes, replies, or feature interactions — solely to make the app work and feel personalised.
Onboarding quizzes & optional questionnaires
These help improve matching accuracy and community features.
You can skip or change them at any time.
Communication & support
If you contact us (email, forms, in-app support), we process what you send so we can respond and help.
Payment and subscription data (if/when paid features exist)
If you make purchases through our Services, we may collect information needed to process payments (like transaction details).
Payment details such as card numbers are handled by secure third-party payment processors (e.g. Stripe, PayPal, card providers). We do not store full card numbers ourselves.

1.2 Information automatically collected
When you visit or use our Services, some information is collected automatically. This may include:
IP address or general region
browser and device type
operating system and language
pages viewed and in-app screens visited
time and duration of visits
error data and crash logs
This is mainly used to keep the Services secure, debug issues, and understand how the platform is being used so we can improve it.
We also use cookies and similar technologies – see Section 6 and our Cookie Policy for more detail.

1.3 What we do not collect
To protect WLW users, Roxy will never collect:
❌ Your phone contacts
❌ Your precise location without permission
❌ Background behavioural tracking or hidden activity logs
❌ Microphone or camera access unless you intentionally use them
❌ Any information that exposes your sexuality without your explicit consent
❌ Any cross-app data from your phone (no scraping, no snooping, ever)
We don’t sell your data.
We don’t rent your data.
We don’t share your data with advertisers.
We don’t follow you across other apps or websites unless you allow us to.

1.4 Cross-app permissions (only if you choose them)
Look, here’s the truth in plain English:
Most people freak out when they hear “tracking across other apps or websites” because Big Tech turned that phrase into a horror film. Everyone imagines apps hiding in their phone like:
“She looked at a cat video… log it.”
“She googled vegan lasagne… target her.”
“She lingered on that girl’s Instagram for 4 seconds… SELL HER THINGS.”
That’s not us.
That’s never going to be us.
We’re building a WLW platform — not a surveillance empire.
Why we don’t follow you by default
Because:
we’re not nosy
we’re not advertisers
we do not care what you buy, read, or doomscroll
we don’t sell data to anyone
we’re here for connection and safety, not exploitation
Why we might ask for cross-app permissions (only if you allow it)
In the future, certain optional features could genuinely help you if you choose to enable them.

For example:
✔ Safer account recovery
If you lose your log-in, cross-app confirmation can verify you’re actually you — not a random cis man named Dave trying to sneak in.
✔ Smarter matching (based on what you choose to share)
If you opt in to connect something like Spotify one day, your music taste could help match you with WLW who vibe with your energy.
(“Oh you love Hozier and 2000s lesbian indie anthems? Say less.”)
✔ Event syncing
If you link a calendar or location feature (again, optional), we could show local WLW events without you manually searching.
✔ Personalised content — the healthy kind
Not ads, not behavioural manipulation, but things like:
showing you WLW communities you might like
surfacing relevant events
pushing safety reminders that actually matter to you
This isn’t surveillance.
This is convenience — only if you decide you want it.
We genuinely don’t care what you do on other apps or websites. We’re not here to build an advertising profile of you or follow you around like a digital ex who can’t let go.
If you ever let us connect with another app, it’s only because it makes your Roxy experience easier, safer, or more personalised — never because we need your data for something shady.
We won’t follow you unless you ask us to.
And even then, it’s only to make your life simpler — not to spy on your browser history, not to sell anything, and absolutely not to judge your late-night Wikipedia rabbit holes.
This is a WLW-first platform, not surveillance capitalism.

2. Sensitive information
Roxy is used by queer women, lesbians, bisexual and pansexual women, trans women, non-binary people, and others across the WLW spectrum.
Because of this, we treat everything related to your identity as sensitive data under GDPR — even if the law wouldn’t normally require it.
This includes:
– your profile
– your preferences
– your interactions
– your photos
– your orientation (if shared)
– your community activity

You control what you choose to share.
You can change or delete anything at any time.
We will always handle WLW-related data with the highest level of confidentiality, security, and care.

3. How and why we use your information
We process your information to:
– provide and operate the Roxy app and related Services
– personalise your experience and matching
– maintain safety and prevent fraud or abuse
– communicate with you (support, updates, important notices)
– analyse usage so we can improve features and performance
– comply with legal obligations where required

Examples:
To create and maintain your account and log you in
To deliver matches, feed content, groups, events, and other in-app features
To respond to your messages, support requests, and feedback
To send essential communications (e.g. policy updates, security alerts)
To send marketing emails if you’ve opted in (you can unsubscribe any time)
To identify and stop spam, harassment, and violations of our rules
To improve algorithms and features without using your messages or identity for advertising
We only process your information where we have a valid legal reason to do so (see Section 4).

4. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK/EEA & others)
Because we are based in Europe and many users are in the EU/UK, we follow GDPR and similar laws.
We rely on the following legal bases:
Consent
When you:
sign up and choose to share information
opt in to marketing emails
complete optional quizzes or surveys
grant specific permissions (e.g., notifications, location, cross-app connections)
You can withdraw consent at any time by changing settings or emailing info@thinqer.io.
Contractual necessity
We process certain data because we need it to:
create and maintain your account
provide the core Roxy services you requested
respond to your requests and support issues
Without this, we literally can’t run the app for you.
Legitimate interests
Sometimes we process data because it’s in our legitimate interests and doesn’t override your rights, for example:
improving and securing our Services
preventing fraud, abuse, and spam
understanding how features are used so we can make Roxy better
enforcing our terms or community guidelines
Legal obligations
We may process or retain certain information if we’re legally required to do so (for example, tax, accounting, anti-fraud, or law enforcement requests).
Canada and other regions
If you’re in Canada or a country with consent-based regulations, we rely on your express or implied consent where required, and you can withdraw it at any time.

5. Matching data
Roxy’s matching system is built to prioritise connection, compatibility, and psychological alignment — not surveillance.

5.1 What powers matching
Roxy uses only:
Your stated preferences
Attraction preferences, dealbreakers, boundaries, intentions.
Your onboarding answers
Personality indicators, lifestyle details, compatibility questions.
Your voluntary engagement patterns
For example, what type of profiles you tend to pause on or interact with — but without deep behavioural profiling or invasive tracking.
Optional quizzes & compatibility tools
All designed to make matches more meaningful and rooted in how WLW actually connect.

5.2 What we absolutely do not do
❌ We never share matching data with third parties
❌ We never use it for ads
❌ We never use it for cross-app profiling
❌ We never sell algorithmic behaviour data
❌ We never use matching data to manipulate you into spending money
Roxy’s matching system exists to help you make better WLW connections — not to exploit your data.

6. Messages & community spaces
Roxy’s job is to keep you safe — not to snoop.
Private messages are protected, and we do not read them for advertising, training, profiling, or drama.
Roxy can scan messages only for two reasons:
To keep conversation flowing
Things like spotting when you need help, flagging stuck convos, or nudging interactions forward.
To detect harmful behaviour
This includes harassment, threats, hate speech, spam, catfishing attempts, or anything that violates safety rules.
What this means in practice:
Roxy may use automated tools to detect behaviour that could harm users.
If you report someone, Roxy (or a human moderator) can review the relevant messages to confirm what happened.
This is for safety — not surveillance.
Your messages are never used to build advertising profiles, sold, or used to train external AI models on your conversations.
Think of it like a bouncer in a queer club:
they’re not listening to your chat with your crush, but if someone tries something dodgy, they’re on it.
Community spaces (groups, events, feed posts) may also be lightly moderated for everyone’s safety.

7. Photos & media
Roxy is a visual space — but a safe one.
Current system
Screenshots are blocked inside private chats to protect your privacy.
We do not scan, analyse, or run facial recognition on your media at this time.
Possible future system (WLW-decided)
To keep cis men out, we may introduce optional facial verification, which would:
Confirm you’re a real person
Confirm you match the gender identity criteria for Roxy
Reduce catfishing and fake profiles
Protect the integrity of our WLW-only space
This would be a simple one-time camera check
not ongoing monitoring, not face tracking, not “scan every image you upload”.
And the big part:
We’re letting the community decide.
This verification system is being evaluated in the WLW survey, and any final decision will be based on the voices of WLW users globally.
No tool will ever be launched without clear consent and full transparency.

8. Cookies & tracking technologies
Roxy keeps tracking to an absolute minimum. We use only what’s necessary to run the platform safely and smoothly.

8.1 What we use
Essential cookies
These keep the app functioning (e.g., login, security, page loading, remembering your settings).
Functional cookies
These help personalise your experience, such as remembering in-app preferences.
Minimal analytics cookies
Used only to understand how the app is performing so we can fix bugs, improve features, and keep things running well.
8.2 What we do not use
No advertising cookies
No behavioural targeting
No cross-site tracking
No social-media tracking pixels
No data brokerage tools
No hidden fingerprinting or location tracking
Why? Because Roxy is built for queer women and WLW-aligned users — a community that deserves privacy, safety, and the comfort of knowing they’re not being followed around the internet.
You can manage or reject non-essential cookies at any time through your device settings, browser controls, or cookie settings where available. See also our Cookie Policy.

9. Social logins
If you choose to register or log in using a third-party account (like Google, Apple, or other providers), we may receive certain information from that provider, such as:
name
email address
profile picture
We only use this information to:
create or log in to your Roxy account
keep your account secure
simplify your experience
We do not control how those providers handle your data. Check their privacy policies for details on how they process your information.

10. When and with whom we share information
We do not sell your personal data. Full stop.
We may share your information only in these limited situations:
Service providers
With trusted third parties who help us run the Services (e.g., hosting, analytics, email, payments). They only process your data on our instructions and must protect it.
Business transfers
If we ever undergo a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of company assets, your data may be transferred as part of that process — but always under similar privacy protections.
Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe it’s necessary to:
protect you or others from harm
detect or prevent fraud or abuse
respond to lawful requests from authorities
We keep this strictly limited and documented.

11. Third-party websites & links
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, apps, tools, or content that are not operated by us.
We’re not responsible for:
their content
their privacy practices
their security standards
If you click through to a third-party site, their privacy policy applies — not ours. Always check their policies before sharing your data.

12. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to:
provide the Services
fulfil the purposes described in this notice
comply with legal, accounting, or regulatory requirements
When we no longer need your data:
we delete it, or
we anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.
If your data is stored in backup systems, it will be removed in line with our backup retention cycle.
If you delete your account, we will:
deactivate or delete your account from active systems, and
keep only the minimum necessary information where required for legal, security, or anti-fraud reasons.

13. How we keep your information safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
encrypted connections (HTTPS)
access controls and restricted internal access
secure hosting and infrastructure
regular monitoring for suspicious activity
However, no internet system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that hackers or unauthorised third parties will never be able to break through our defences.
You should:
use strong, unique passwords
log out on shared devices
be careful about what you share publicly
If you suspect a security issue, email us at info@thinqer.io.

14. Minors
Roxy and related Services are not intended for children under 18.
We do not knowingly collect data from or market to anyone under 18 years of age.
By using the Services, you confirm you are:
at least 18 years old, or
the parent/guardian of someone 18+ using the Services.
If we learn that we have collected personal data from someone under 18, we will:
deactivate their account, and
take reasonable steps to delete their data.
If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact info@thinqer.io.

15. International data transfers
Because users may be based in the EU, UK, US, Canada, and globally, your data may be processed in countries other than where you live.
Where data is transferred outside the EU/UK, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to ensure your data continues to receive GDPR-level protection.

16. Your rights
Depending on where you live (EU/EEA, UK, Canada, California, and other regions), you may have some or all of these rights:
Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction – ask us to update or correct inaccurate information
Deletion – request we delete your data (subject to legal exceptions)
Restriction – ask us to limit how we process your data
Objection – object to certain types of processing (e.g. marketing)
Data portability – request your data in a structured, commonly-used format
Withdraw consent – withdraw consent where processing is based on it
We will consider and act upon any request in line with applicable laws.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we are not handling your data lawfully, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, email us at info@thinqer.io.

17. Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting.
There is currently no widely adopted standard for how websites should respond to these signals.
At this time, we do not specifically respond to DNT signals.
If this changes in future, we’ll update this Privacy Notice.
That said, we already minimise tracking and do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

18. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you’re a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, including:
the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and how we use them
the right to request deletion of your personal information
the right to know whether we sell or share your data (we do not)
the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
To exercise your Californian privacy rights, contact info@thinqer.io and state that you are a California resident making a CCPA/CPRA request.

19. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to stay aligned with:
legal requirements
product changes
community needs
When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For major changes, we may also:
notify you in-app, or
email you, where appropriate.
We encourage you to review this notice regularly to stay informed about how we protect your data.

20. Contact
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Notice or your data, you can reach us at:
📧 info@thinqer.io

We’re committed to WLW-first safety and transparent data practices, and we will always respond promptly and respectfully.
